So how do you generate short tones for std msgs?  That's what I was trying to 
figure out as someone was asking.

 Hi Mike, that is an incorrect analysis. The variable rpt is an argument of 
gsnStdMsgs() (mainwindow.cpp:3459) which is called with the received message 
report field which may be empty (mainwindow.cpp:3356) and also when called 
after clearing the DX call and grid (mainwindow.cpp:3606). 73
