Hi all,
I'm sorry but for some reason, I haven't received Michael's email from the
list so can't keep this in the original thread.

What directions are you following to install JTSDK?
Here's the best that I know of

It should not take hours...unless you're running one heck of a slow computer.
More like 20-30 minutes.
Did we ask what OS you're on?

The slowest computer I'm running is the laptop - Intel I5-6200U @ 2.40GHz with
8GB RAM, Windows 10 64 bit
The instructions I am using are
https://sourceforge.net/projects/jtsdk/files/win32/2.0.0/
I've had a quick look at the instructions you suggest and they appear to be the
same. I guessing here but I think that the reason it takes hours and then fails
is that the program is waiting for a response but doesn't get one. I notice
that CPU usage = 0 and memory usage is very low for a long time.
My main reason for wanting the JTSDK is to sort the bit in the qso box for
"Comments" "Retain". I use this to note the antenna I use but the comment box
always gets filled with the received and sent signal reports whether the
"Retain" tick box is ticked or not.
I'll try a few more times uninstalling and reinstalling but if the install goes
to an hour I'll abort it. I don't know if it's linked but another extremely
slow point is when the program does a "autorebase.dash". My main PC (I5-4670 @
3.40GHz with 12GB RAM, windows 10 64 bit) is now at the build-hamlib3 stage.
It's been running for 15 mins and shows CPU=0 and memory = 3.5Mb
