FT8 doesn't have a two-pass decoder. Even it it did, a signal that
doesn't have another one overlapping it stands a better chance of being
decoded.

A regular spacing of (say) 60 Hz would help to keep things apart.

I'm not suggesting that this should be forced on users by WSJT-X, but
there is a way it could be hinted at for those who want to choose
regular steps when calling CQ. And that is to add, subtly and in the
background, a graticule to the waterfall.

At the moment the waterfall has bright, thin green horizontal lines
marking the boundaries between T/R periods. We could add, as a
configurable option, somewhat darker thin green vertical lines at 60 Hz
steps.

Another option would be to move the marker pips at the top of the
waterfall from 100 Hz steps to 60 Hz steps.
