Hi Rich,
Typically, you do not run the build from the “build” folder. Rather, you run it
from the release/install folder, as that is where all the required QT / GCC
dll’s are copied to. The auto-run setting for JTSDK (assuming that is what you
are building with) changes directory to the revision / release / install
directory, then runs the wsjtx.exe. This would be the same action as if you
were to run WSJT-X after using the package installer. The plugins directory
typically resided one level above the /bin directory. However, when running
from the build directory, that structure does not exist.
I can’t really speak to your older build situation.

Subject: [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X 1.7.1 builds now fail to start
I had been successfully building and running WSJT-X development releases
for many months up to r8072. When RC2 came out I started using it to check it
for bugs and hadn't built any new 1.7.1 releases until today. I built r8098 and
it auto started and ran OK. I went into the 8098/release/build folder and made
a shortcut for wsjtx.exe but when I ran it I received an error message. Running
the wsjtx.exe directly gives the same error. The message says that the app
failed to start because it could not find or load the QT platform plugin
"windows". I tried rebuilding with the same results.
I also tried running wsjtx-exe from a number of older (8060 & 8071) builds
which previously were working but get the same error.
Can you shed some light as to what might be happening? Thanks.

Rich - K1HTV
