I do agree that care needs to be taken. Already there are loud complaints about PSK31 windows being pushed out by other modes. We don't want to exacerbate this more.
However I think the onus is more on the dxpedition operator rather than WSJT-X developers. There are frequencies higher up or lower down in the window seldom used, where 3kHz can be found.
