New theory on this one, I think it may be occurring more (if not exclusively)
when I am operating remotely using TeamViewer, something I’ve done without
incident through several versions… Not sure if this bears any resemblance to
your scenario?

For what it is worth, I am seeing the same issue on two different Windows 7
64-bit computers running the new 1.9 rc3. Never saw this on prior versions of
any WSJT since inception.

I tried to connect CAT directly through the WSJT program and also through HRD
program and had same results. Also had same results with and without JTAlert
running.

I also had same results with one computer connected to KX3 and the other
connected to ICOM IC746Pro. A friend of mine also reported the issue to me this
morning.

I will do more testing and reading. I will revert back to 1.9 rc2 to see what
is shows but never had issue before since it came out. BTW, the Icom 746Pro was
connected to dummy load to dismiss RFI in the shack comments back ;)

Thanks, kinda glad it’s not just me. In my case I’m controlling an Icom IC-718
via HRD. Never seen this before till RC3, RC2 was fine.

Can’t say for certain but it seems to do this more when idle. i.e. receiving in
the background but no active hands on transmitting, a little bit like a ‘sleep’
mode or timeout..

I’ve not seen it for a little while, I was on 17m earlier in the day now on 20m
so perhaps band related (as mad as that might sound!).

Were you running RC2 OK?

Yours would be the 2nd report we have of this.
Other guy is an IC-7300 with direct control of it via hamlib.
I'm working with him now to try and isolate the problem.

An observation since upgrading to RC3:-

On Windows 10 64bit o/s

I use WSJT-X with Signalink Interface and Cat control via Ham Radio Deluxe on
the same PC.

I upgraded to RC3 last night.

Almost immediately I’ve begun noticing that WSKT-x occasionally loses rig
control, the usual green dot tends to go orange and eventually red with a pop
up error. I then have to click ‘retry’ and it seems to sort itself for a bit.
I’ve never had this before. I’ve restarted all HRD windows and they all appear
to be working just fine.

Not sure if some sort of lag in connection may have crept it?
