Hello Chris, Hello Tim ntp time sync goes like this:
--- your PC sends local time t1 to ntp time t2 arrived at ntp: local time t1 + delay client to ntp ( = upload delay) - offset ntp sends correct time t3 time t4 arrived at PC: ntp-time t3 + delay ntp to client ( = download delay) + offset expectation: up/down delay is the same. no jitter! time t4 is the time to set the correct time at PC Conclusion: delay for 'up' and 'down' must be the same. No jitter is allowed on both legs. --- Had a similar problem like yours using an ADSL line. The ADSL modem had apparently some hick-ups (?) resulting of delays from time to time. Using a utility, like Dimension4 seems to be not a good solution in such case. Dimension4 connects to just one ntp server all the time. If you having no decodes - dont' force sync etc, check immediately at https://time.is/ to verify your local PC time. If your time is way off, try Meinberg software. Install Meinberg software and all will be good. During setup enter your regional ntp pool server. Ntp pool can be found here: https://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/north-america Meinberg (free) software: https://www.meinbergglobal.com/english/sw/ntp.htm#ntp_stable 73's de OE1MWW Wolfgang Wednesday, July 25, 2018, 7:04:34 PM, you wrote: Tim, Mike, Well this happened again. FT8 just stopped decoding. I checked and jt9.exe was still running. I looked at the time and everything appeared OK, But I hit the sync time function in Dimension 4 and Everything started working again. So even through you can’t see it, this is apparently a time sync issue. It is a new Dell 6400, Windows 10 and I am running the Dimension 4 v5.31 sync software. A manual sync appeared to fix everything. Thanks for all the support. This is a great product, please keep up the fantastic work ! Basically all stations fail to decode. Check your clock. Make sure NTP is synced. I have a Dell laptop that continuously slips so I force it to resync before I start pulling my hair out. 73's Tim ae5tc On Jul 1, 2018, at 1:22 PM, Chris Getman <chris.getman...@gmail.com> wrote: I’ll check and let you know the next time it happens. Just since 1.9.1 the system just stops decoding even though the stations appear on the waterfall. Nothing happening that I can relate to this, it just happens once in a while. It takes a complete shutdown reboot to correct this. A restart doesn't help. I am Windows 10 release 1803, Signallink SL-1+ to an FT-847 Have you heard anything else about this issue ? What might be causing it or any correction? I had this happen a couple of versions back, but that was the only time. If you aren’t operating but just in monitor mode continuously, does it do the same thing? I monitor 24/7 except when storms are in the area and have not had a problem, even since the 1.9.1 version was released. It’s pretty strange to have the waterfall showing signals, but all of a sudden nothing is appearing in the decoded windows, but I have see it so I know it does happen. You are not the first to report this recently, but it sounds like it is kind of rare.
