Bob AA7CT, There are many exceptionally well documented technical reasons for the evolution. I will not cover these grounds; yet I will provide a sociological answer; sociology is a Science, hence technical.
Evolution in a scientific context IS about CHANGE and IMPROVEMENT; Evolution IS about making things BETTER. Down here in these far away parts, with the Solar Cycles as they are and increased industrial noise due to lack of regulatory control over devices i.e. The E coast of Australia is almost EXACTLY the same as the W coast of California – almost in terms of population as well. DX is getting harder to chase. Evolution is required. Amateur Radio is FOR people and ABOUT People in a technical, regulated environment. AR is about learning, experimentation and advancement so one can communicate with people. The evolution is so we can learn and communicate better and more efficiently and with less GRRRR, hassle, bad conduct and pile-ups IN THE LONG RUN. I restate... IN THE LONG RUN. I am also observing blank screens as well on 20m ! I have had just one JA contact (JA9CAC) since RC4’s release. Come on ! We need to see more working this - trying – experimenting ! That is what AR is about ! 73 Steve I VK3VM / VK3SIR Sent from Mail<https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=550986> for Windows 10 ________________________________ From: Bob via wsjt-devel <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, November 17, 2018 12:13:06 PM To: WSJT software development Cc: Bob Subject: Re: [wsjt-devel] Problems with RC4 My question is why we are making this radical change? I have been using the WSJT-x for the past year and have rejuvenated my interest in Ham Radio. Why then are you changing everything to go to a different format and frequency? Many still have bugs such as my version which I have reloaded several of 1.9.1 and will now not distinguish colors as to new or worked and limitations as to color modes on the band. I tried the new release of RCR4 and found I looked at an empty screen most of the time. Why the change? I am also using a IC-7300 with only a vertical antenna. I just worked JR3GPP calling CQ at -21 we completed the QSO with his -24 RR73. RC4 has other problems that most people have already commented on. For me I miss the "Already Worked" the most. I reinstalled RC4 twice with identical results both times 73 Giuseppe KE8FT _______________________________________________ wsjt-devel mailing list [email protected] https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flists.sourceforge.net%2Flists%2Flistinfo%2Fwsjt-devel&data=02%7C01%7C%7C7f49fd6c8bb24a07430d08d64beadd3d%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636779869479520310&sdata=gpvP%2B%2F%2BNVgS%2Fv4mzd5afNx4OCKs3SfEvhRRpmLBwSuA%3D&reserved=0 _______________________________________________ wsjt-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel
