Tnx Bill, This is what caused me concern. It is a note on installing listed on their web site:
I read that to mean that I download the file, but when I go to run it, I have to use Admin privileges, which is what I thought you had warned about. I'll try to get to the install tomorrow and see how it might work. - Do not use the Run option when connected to the website. Save the file to your computer first and then run it *as administrator* from the PC Tnx Help, much appreciated. 73, N0AN Hasan On Tue, Jan 22, 2019 at 3:49 PM Bill Somerville <[email protected]> wrote: > On 22/01/2019 21:32, Hasan al-Basri wrote: > > *Bill, what do you think about installing N1MM+ given it's requirement to > install as Admin?* > > Hi Hasan, > > I am not aware that it does need to be installed as Administrator. > Installers on Windows normally run from a non-privileged user account and > request elevation for any parts of the installation that need extra rights. > How that elevation request presents itself depends on the system setup, > either a UAC prompt to continue or a request to login as a privileged user > is normal. > > It appears that the N1MM+ installer needs to register several components > and that will require Administrator rights, if they recommend running the > initial installer as Administrator (by right-clicking it and selecting "Run > as Administrator") then I would do that.
