As a general rule we want operators to be in control of what is happening at their own station.  Thus, we do not allow a transmitted message to control what the other operator will send. In a few relevant circumstances we do, however, provide pop-up messages that suggest what an operator "should" do, under his/her own control.

Hi Palle,

further to Joe's comments, we are currently in a beta test period with FT4 and many users are trying out the new features on frequencies usually used for non-contest general DXing. This will temporarily create some confusion. We would prefer that contest organizers recommend or mandate that contest QSOs take place away from established non-contest frequencies. I understand that VHF and up activity is not usually segregated so strictly due to lower activity levels, mainly due to the more limited distance range of those bands, nevertheless those bands have much more space to spread out so it should be simple to have such segregation and therefore not annoy those who do not wish to take part in contests.
