Hi Bill, many thanks for your swift reply to my query.

Yes, I'm familiar with how apps are expected to treat anything outside the ADIF
tags with the
their associated data but I just wanted to make sure that when WSJT-X scans a
re-created
wsjtx_log.adi file, the presence of the additional CR/LF pairs in-between many
of the ADIF
fields wouldn't cause any hiccups - I didn't for a minute expect it would but
it's always wise to
check these things to be sure!

I could do as you suggest and archive the existing, shortened but otherwise
undamaged,
wsjtx_log.adi file and then create from my logging app or wherever a new
version of
wsjtx_log.adi that includes all the missing records, but equally I could export
from the logging
app all the ADIF records for the QSOs currently missing from the wsjtx_log.adi
file and then
paste all those ADIF records into the start of the existing file and just live
with the different
formatting in the first part of the file - all the ADIF tags and the associated
data would of
course be valid, though.

Also, to address your observation about backups, yes I do have multiple backups
of
everything but sadly they don't cover as far back as when I must have
inadvertently deleted
the records from the wsjtx_log.adi file. However, I do have some 18month-old
back-up
images that I've retrieved from the hard disk removed from a failed NAS unit so
I might be
able to find a legacy version of the wsjtx_log.adi file that includes the
missing ADIF records in
the back-up images - fingers crossed!
