I currently use an .appimage of Cura for 3d printing, and have been quite satisfied with the stability and "maturity" of the platform. Upgrading is as simple as downloading and integrating the new image, and it is possible to maintain multiple versions without program or library conflicts between them.
Snap has been clunky in my experience. I have yet to use any of the others.
