Hi Bill,
Thanks for everything. I understand your position. It is very
unfortunate that WSPRnert no longer seems to have a development or
maintenance resource.
I will attempt to determine experimentally exactly which fields are
needed by WSPRnet. I believe I already have a pretty good feel for that
but just need to confirm. I hope once I have nailed that down Sam can
provide a third party conversion resource. It would be unfortunate if
some long time LF/MF stations could no longer upload WSPR spots without
resorting to running an old version, to say nothing of FST4W.

Hi Paul,
the current WSPR implementation in WSJT-X calls wsprd to do the
decoding, so the ALL_WSPR.TXT file it writes is the same as you would
get by using wsprd from the command line. I believe some of the less
recent format changes are to columns past the ones most users are
interested in, I suspect the upload server may ignore excess columns
silently.
There have been reports that uploads of recent ALL_WSPR.TXT do not work,
we have taken the view that the file format is controlled by the WSJT
team and we can put whatever we need in there. It is unfortunate that
the WSPRnet.org project no longer seems to have any development
resource, which leaves us in a tricky place. I think a third-party
conversion utility is probably the best way forward for those that wish
to upload batches of spots to WSPRnet.org.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for that information. I am very surprised no one has reported
problems with WSPR batch uploads. Perhaps it has been some time since
they updated WSJT-X. I do know for certain files of the format I
posted earlier are accepted, as I tried one successfully today. I do
not know exactly which version that was from but I think it would be
whatever was the latest about a year ago. I use the WSJT-X WSPR
decoder, but not WSJT-X as a front end / UI.

Hi Paul and Sam,
the format has changed a few times. It changed in the v2.0.0 and
v2.2.0. it has changed again for the upcoming v2.3.0 GA release. I
can't find any specification of the file format accepted by
WSPRnet.org for bulk uploads, but I expect it will probably be the
format that was written by the version prior to WSJT-X v2.0.0
(probably WSPR too).

Hi Bill,
I didn't know that. Can you tell me at which version it became
incompatible?

Hi Paul and Sam,
you should be aware that the latest ALL_WSPR.TXT column format is
no longer compatible with the WSPRnet.org file upload routine.

Hi Sam,
I have uploaded a recent sample of ALL_WSPR.TXT here:
http://n1bug.com/ALL_WSPR.TXT
I have no idea what some of those fields are or whether they are
needed by WSPRnet.

Hi Paul,
Can you send me a sample of the ALL_WSPR.TXT file.
If I can, I will update my alltext.exe program, which reads the
All.txt file ,
and output a file with the required format for the selected records.

Subject: [wsjt-devel] FST4W batch WSPRnet upload
Hi,
An issue has been brought to my attention today. We have some
people who
monitor LF and MF from RF quiet locations that don't have internet
access. Therefore they cannot upload spots to WSPRnet in real
time. This
has not been a major problem with WSPR because after a night of
monitoring they can take the ALL_WSPR.TXT file to a location that
does
have internet access and upload it to WSPRnet. This gets all of
their
spots from that night into the system.
The issue is that FST4W does not save spots to a file in the
format of
ALL_WSPR.TXT. It does save them to ALL.TXT of course but the
format of
that file is different and is not accepted by WSPRnet. Can saving
FST4W
spots to a file in the format of ALL_WSPR.TXT be implemented? I
don't
think the name of the file matters.
