Hi Mike,
For further identification of the source of the issue, you could try to
generate a 100% modulated sine wave in audacity and play it back.
"Generate -> Tone -> Amplitude 1".
That will contain no clipping or distortion.
You can also use audacity to search for clipping "Analyze -> Find
Clipping". But none of your uploaded wav files shows clipping or a
significantly distorted signal.
I've seen sound cards that cause distortion at 100% drive, but that will
be another issue (driver/hardware).
