the author of software program MSHV.
I am also copying the message to several relevant public forums. Users
of WSJT-X and MSHV should be aware of the repeated and flagrant misuse
of WSJT-X source code in MSHV, contrary to our explicit and repeated
requests.

1. *June 17, 2016:* I sent you a long email about licensing and
copyright terms for use of our software WSJT-X its sister programs.
My email included these lines:
"[Y]ou should *NOT* use, adapt, or publish any modes or protocols found
only in unreleased versions of our programs. Please remove JTMSK and
MSK144 from from your program, and explain to your users the reasons I
have explained above."
2. *September 22, 2017:* I sent you another long email about your
repeated violations of our license and copyright terms. Here are a few
lines from that email:
"Once again it seems you have been copying and translating our source
code for a new protocol before even we -- the authors of the FT8
protocol and the algorithms for its encoding, decoding, and message
sequencing -- have made a full general-availability release of our
software."
3. *October 3, 2017:* I wrote to you as follows:
" ... Section 8 of the GPL license
https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.txt includes the following text:
'You may not propagate or modify a covered work except as expressly
provided under this License. Any attempt otherwise to propagate or
modify it is void, and will automatically terminate your rights under
this License ...'
"We do not wish to revoke your license to use material from WSJT-X, so
please make your web sites and your source code files conform to the
requirements outlined above."
4. *March 13, 2021:* Today I learned that you have violated our license
and copyright conditions again, this time with the new mode Q65.
As you surely know, there has been no General Availability (GA) release
of WSJT-X 2.4.0, the program version that will introduce Q65. You must
therefore remove Q65 from all published versions of MSHV and explain to
your users the reason it has been removed.
To be perfectly clear:
We have no problem with the existence of MSHV or the choices you have
made to provide a subset of the capabilities of WSJT-X with a different
user interface. You may offer Q65 to your users when it becomes
available in the GA release WSJT-X 2.4.0. But we will revoke your
license to use any of our code, or derivatives thereof, if you cannot
follow the clearly stated requirements of our licensing and copyright
terms and conditions.
