Richard,
You have tried the other COM ports?  While I run a linux system here, I have a 
rig and computer that the port assignment changes from time to time.  Also, 
check again the baud rate in wsjtx, be sure it is correct for the rig being 
used.  This would be in Settings, in the FILE section on the main screen.
