Hello! I've been a lurker here for a couple of days and now I had to come
out in the open.

My interest in a propposal for the Google SoC led me to do some research on
Watir and as I plan to develop for Linux it didn't fit my purpose. Then I
found out about FireWatir and how some guy got JSSh working on Linux and
that was it. But recently I've been perusing the list and I stumbled upon an
old discussion about Watir 2.0 that would include support for Linux &
Firefox through integration with Selenium, with the downside of needing
server-side support and stuff. The thread didn't resolve and I couldn't find
anything else related to 2.0, so my questions are:

- Is there still a plan for a 2.0 (the intended feature set looked quite
amazing!)?
- Is it in active development?
- Has it forked from the original?
- Hasn't the Linux/Firefox problem been solved by FireWatir? Wouldn't
integrating it into Watir avoid the apparently troublesome merger with
Selenium?

By the way, in the specs for Watir 2.0 there was something about this
mouse-over thing that would show the corresponding Watir code for
interacting with the element under the pointer. That has a lot to do with my
SoC idea of writing a macro-recorder of sorts that would track the actual
usage of the website and then spit out the code for repeating it. It would
be very interesting to know how you are intending to implement the
mouse-over feature (and also if you think that there's demand for my
propposal).

Thanks a lot for any help.

Best regards,
