You've said that any use of Regexps leads to trouble, but we have lots of unit tests for Regexps in our test suite and they all pass with the 1.5. So there must be something else, as yet unidentified, that is an important part of your problem. It could be something in your environment. If you run the unit tests (run the core-tests.rb) what happens? It could also be something specific to the web pages that you are testing. Would it be possible to send us a page that we can test against?
