Yes, Dave, I use a local collection agency when no other method works.  We have to share what they collect 50/50.  They do sometimes take people to court.  Our results are pretty good, but I have to admit the results got much better when one of my loan recipients who works for the collection agency took an interest and took it upon herself to take on all of Bethany's collections.  She has taken people to court for as little as $400 or so.  I always maintain the success of this program can be traced back to relationships!

Subject: [WTW] Debt Collection

Hi All:

After a WtW loan has gone into default (and, in some cases, after the car has been repoed), has anyone had any success in using a collection agency to recover any additional money owed?

If you have, how successful have you been?

Also, has the collection agency used an attorney to pursue the debtor in court, and has that worked at all?

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Dave Dougherty
