Several of the WVU Cycling club members ride both mountain and road, others just one or the other. Rides are typically posted on this forum. During the school year, rides happen almost every day. Sometimes several a day, to match individual interests. It's all very informal. You just let the other riders know you are coming before you show up, so we know who to expect (that way no one gets inadvertently left behind at roll out) Ryan did teach a cycling safety course through the university, if you would like to become more familiar with riding safety in Morgantown he can point you in the right direction. It's free if you are a university student. You are correct in that the roads do not have large shoulders to ride on, but that does not mean they are not unsafe. It just takes some getting used to. If youare looking for a bike on a budget, you have the correct idea. keep asking around. Glad to have another active cyclist in town.
