it's true bakefile does not have 1/10 of the users of cmake, but it's 
used in more places than just wxStEdit, wxLua, wxArt2d, wxWidgets, I grant.

FYI bakefile has very different features from cmake. And honestly I did 
choose to use it instead of cmake and instead of e.g. scons, even if I 
was well-aware of these alternatives, exactly because of that different 
features.

It's not just a duplication of already existent work. It adds many new 
concepts and features to the build tool area which I've never seen 
anywhere else (but I admit I'm a bit ignorant on scons/premake side).

And that's what OSS all about after all: competition and creation of new 
projects in general, stimulates the diffusion, creation and ehancements 
  of new ideas and innovation.
