Klaas, we have used wxart2d succesfull in two bigger projects, thank you. I think you and the others have done excellent work. wxart2d is really big and complex. For complex Projects it is a good start to begin in silence, an make all interfaces right before to much other opinions slow down the young project.
But we think the only missing peace which is missing for success (=more developer) is more publicity. - Papers, Conferences, Freshmeat.net, Blogs ... - more Collabaration with wxWidget folks, a lot of basic classes could be moved from wxart2d to wxwidget, which will lower the maintain effort of your side. - for Example Chart and Diagrams Components are really loved by every Developer and Manager, the best is they are very easy to use and to understand with wxart2d. (In Java http://www.jfree.org/jfreechart/ is very famous.) - most people don't understand the power of wxart2d, (and the most are to lazy to understand complex projects), if we make some components which are easy to use and to integrate (without knowledge about to many classes), the people will begin to understand, and finally they look what else can be done with wxart2d... and the fun will start.. and some profi-programmer will start to invest some time in wxart. In Short: make the start simple and sexy, people love simple and sexy things, than the people are attracted and invest a little time, they talk to others and the rest will come automatically... ; wxArt2d need a huge userbase and statical some are very good and invest some of their time. Thats why make a not to colored web side and focus on some very popular components: take the trac project (and there website) as an example, trac is not so extensible and powerful like twiki but the simplicity of use and installation give trac a lot of attention (many famous german journals wrote about trac, but not about twiki) .... This are just some Thoughts ... Greetings, Richter PS. Twiki is not using CVS the use RCS (predecessor for cvs!!), there is no Code-Browsing, -Diffing or -Linking with the Wiki http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/TWiki04/TWikiSystemRequirements. We have tried to use a ticket system in twiki but it is to much regexp hacking and not really use full for bigger source code projects. Twiki is great as Wiki but not as Bugtracking, Projectmanaging and Source-Code tool! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
