Out of interest, for what? Screen shots always welcome, even better if i can place them on the website. Certainly true, and it looks the time has come that all coding things come into place. > > But we think the only missing peace which is missing for success > (=more developer) is more publicity. > - Papers, Conferences, Freshmeat.net, Blogs ... Sure! But hey, this software is my evening work, not my work! I just don't have the time, to do all this, no matter how much i like it to be. > - more Collabaration with wxWidget folks, a lot of basic classes > could be moved from wxart2d to wxwidget, > which will lower the maintain effort of your side. Without getting wxWidgets CVS access, i won't do it. I know some very active people, that have to beg on their knees to get something done in wxWidgets. I can't handle that, it would take me so much time, next to irritation. But also like docview module classes, are to essential for wxArt2d, so having that in wxWidgets instead, will make my life for to complicated. But if you can find simpler classses, which should be moved, be my quest to get it done ;-) > > - for Example Chart and Diagrams Components are really loved by every > Developer and Manager, the best is they are very easy to use and to > understand with wxart2d. I agree. And my wish is to make components, but this is not so easy to do. I mean how does one make a component for displaying and editing graphs? Menu's and all. What is the interface to the user? This is indeed one of the things i am trying to achieve. First a 2d Graphics editor plugin, but its complicated. And the base is not good enough yet, when it comes to compiling with other compilers etc. Actually that takes most of my time, setup for different compilers and platforms. Multi platform is a nightmare :-( But you must have noticed things or improving on the wxLua and wxWidgets site when it comes to this. > > In Short: make the start simple and sexy, people love simple and sexy > things, than the people are attracted and invest a little time, they > talk to others and the rest will come automatically... ; wxArt2d need > a huge userbase and statical some are very good and invest some of > their time. Could you give some ideas how to achieve this simpleness? That are reasonable simple for me too! I am maybe to far in it, to see them. > > Thats why make a not to colored web side and focus on some very > popular components: take the trac project (and there website) as an > example, trac is not so extensible and powerful like twiki but the > simplicity of use and installation give trac a lot of attention (many > famous german journals wrote about trac, but not about twiki) .... Sorry, what i have looked around a bit, for me TWiki is simpler to understand, and for me the WYSISWG interface is a must. I will look some more this evening, but for me the only problem with TWiki is speed/server. In any case, my goal is to make a website based on some twiki, where i can write and extend documentation, and all that comes with wxArt2D. Like it is now, with docbook, and style sheets, is already to complicated to easily extend it. I prefer to write small pieces on subjects, else it will not happen i am afraid. > > This are just some Thoughts ... Very welcome, but it still a chicken or egg thing. So if it comes to my time only things will be progressing slowly.
