So are you saying you used that sample (without modification), and used it as a 
beginning for your own app?
And there it does compile etc.?

I don't know how you did setup your application, but since your error is a 
runtime error, I think its oke.

a2dDrawer2D::DeviceDrawPixel should be implemented in one of the next, while it 
is NOT.

class A2DAGGDRAWERDLLEXP a2dAggDrawerBase : public a2dDrawer2D
class A2DAGGDRAWERDLLEXP a2dAggDrawer : public a2dAggDrawerBase

I don't remember why, maybe I just forgot. Will have a look at that.
If you do not use DeviceDrawPixel in your app, does it run oke?
