After failing to get wxLua running on OS X, I thought I'd try WinXP to get
an idea of what's supposed to be happening.
Only it doesn't work, either, at least if you use the binary package from
the download page.
I downloaded:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wxlua/wxLua-2.8.0.0-setup.exe?download
(after successfully installing wxWidgets). It installs fine, but when I
double click the icon "wxLuaEditor" created on my desktop, I get "This
application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Is there some basic concept I'm missing here? I mean, it appears there's
been a lot of work done on this project, and people use it ... but I can't
get it to install on the two most popular OSs in the world. I'm certainly
not an expert, but I'm nowhere close to a novice computer user. My intent
is not to whine, but to say this isn't a great way to be introduced to
something that apparently has had a lot of work put into it.
