Reading carefully though your PPM actions as pasted (which is very helpful,
thank you), I can't see that you have actually installed an updated Wx?
Could you install Wx 0.82 and try then.

Hmmm... I know how to use ActiveState's PPM to install packages, but
I'm not sure how to pick which respository they came from. So, I'll
just try it anyway:

I've not quite figured out why PPM can't manage this automatically - I
think perhaps the File-chdir warnings stop any further action.
