Unfortunately I've reverted to 15.10, turns out 16.04 was unstable in
other ways. Apache locked up, same Apache I had compiled from source and
ran fine on 15.10, but locked up on 16.04, so I reverted to 15.10.

After upgrading Ubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04, I can no longer connect
using x2go. Trying to use either mate or kde, it appears to try to start
and then aborts and goes back to the login prompt. I upgraded x2go server
and all x2go software to the most recent on the server side, no help.

A bit late to the party, but ...

there's a workaround at the bottom, curious if it works for you too ...
