Hi, From my own testing, in a LAN setup, I found these settings to be my best choices :
* 16m-jpeg : good overall performances, especially with animated contents or videos at the cost of a small artefacts and blurryness around small texts * 16m-rdp-compressed : good compromise between smoothness and readability * 16m-png-jpeg : great readability, smoothness is good except for animated contents/videos The name format is not named from the bpp but from the bandwidth it consumes. For your use case, with mostly text based apps, I would recommend 2m-png-jpeg, should be good. Is there any guidance available for which compression methods work best in which scenarios? I didn't see anything on the X2Go wiki but it's possible I've overlooked it. I can't even find a description of what all the different compression methods actually are, though I'm guessing that most of them are named in the format bits_per_pixel-image_compression_algorithm. For my own use, I usually use X2Go to run individual applications (not an entire desktop) remotely. These applications are primarily text-based, such as terminal emulators, text editors, and mail clients. The remote machines have upload speeds of about 3 Mbit/s. Would it make sense for me to choose something png-based rather than jpeg-based? 256-png perhaps, since I am not looking at any images other than toolbar icons?
