NX has its performance advantage on WAN connections when used with appropriate desktops. That's why I think we should keep both technologies around, until everything else has become Wayland anyway (20 years+).
The charming side about the image/compression protocol behind X2Go Kdrive is that it is X11 agnostic and can plugged into Wayland compositors, as well. No changes required on the client-side at all for this.
