Alrighty, I applied the patch, and things are built. I'm still testing
my binaries to see if everything is working, but so far, so good. The
Samples stuff wasn't patched, so it still can't be configured for MinGw
- if/when there's a patch for that, I'll test it, too.

It looks to me that the problem with the ln command is that it is trying
to link to something not present.

For example, the first time it appears, I see that I've entered the
directory:
src/xalanc/Utils/XalanMsgLib

Then I see that libxalanMsg.dll is built to $XALANCROOT/lib

But the ln command is something like:
ln -s libxalanMsg.dll ../../../../lib/libxalanMsg1_10_0.dll

The ln command wants to pick up libxalanMsg.dll from the current
directory, but since it was built to $XALANCROOT/lib, it is not there.
That would seem to me why there is an error.

It looks to me that every time the build fails on ln, this same
situation is occurring.

Hopefully that's useful for you Dave.

Thanks for the work on this - it's very much appreciated. Let me know
if you need any more detail.

Great, I see the patch out there right now. Unfortunately, I forgot
yesterday that I'm out of town the rest of the week, so I won't have
time to test until I get back to my desk next Monday.

I'll be sure to follow up with my findings.

I will try to post the patch today. SVN was down most of Thursday and
part of Friday, so it was difficult to get it ready.

Thanks!
