Why do you assume anyone _is_ abandoning the small guys?

The goal is to integrate the XSLTC and Xalan technologies, so the two tools
share as much of their code as is practical and improvements made to one
may help both. XSLTC --- the Compiling Mode of the unified tool -- will
still output translets, so it should be just as comptable with the small
environments as it is now.
