Xalan 1.4 and Xerces' 2.1 new DOM C++ binding

Hello,

I was surprised to learn that Xalan 1.4 uses the deprecated DOM from the Xerces 2.1 
distribution.  Is there any plan to make Xalan use the new Xerces C++ DOM binding 
(formerly known as IDOM)?
