The href is: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=xerces-j-dev&m=103782410131866&w=2 The poster mentioned that the reason the change was made is that deferred expansion was a gain for big docs but a loss for small ones. It sure sounds to me like this change is a candidate for at least some of the performance difference seen here.
