The XML toolkit for z/OS install 2 directories LotusXSL- C_1_3 and xml4c-4.0. LotusXSL-C_1_3 has Xalan-C++ classes in it's include directory. The XMLTranscoder class (on which I was seeing the problem) is in the includes of xml4c-4.0. So I was assuming this is a Xerces-C++ problem. But I might be wrong. If this is a bug with Xalan, the LotusXSL-C_1_3 docs direct to this bugzilla database to open defects. This is the reason I am using apache instead of trying to contact IBM.
