generate-id() doesn't work correctly while document hopping

I agree with David. The spec does not say that the source tree should be
identified in the same way. I'm not sure I understand the use case, but if the
documents are truly the same, reloading the source tree via document() does seem
a bit odd. Can't you store the root of the source tree in a variable and then
refer back to it?
