To be fair, there were committers from Sun too and at least two people on the PMC who I believe never worked for either.
Others in the community have had a long time (over a decade) to volunteer if they genuinely wanted to get involved. If folks are emerging now who want to pick up the ball there would probably need to be a new PMC. Thanks.
