My current tests with Xalan-C 1.11 seem to indicate that Numbers are only useful with the resolution of type FLOAT instead of DOUBLE. The underlying data storage for numbers appears to be 64-bit DOUBLE, but the rendering seems to be restricted to 32-bit FLOAT.
