It comes up just like you would expect using less.
When I try to open it with Xastir oddly enough I do get the 'File
done...' indicator. But nothing on the maps, almost like it drew it
invisible. LOL

See if you can do a "less" on the log from the command line. If
you can't open it as a normal user, Xastir won't be able to either.
Could be permissions on the file or permissions on the directory or
parent directories that won't let it get there.
