It's still not working, I have reinstalled my computer two time last
night but the result is the same.
After install of Ubuntu I run the update to make sure everything is up
to date with fixes and then I run the script. The script works fine and
when it is completed I restart the computer, after restart I create a
shortcut on the desktop to Xastir. When doubleclicking on the shortcut I
can see Xastir for 1 to 2 sec. but it never shows me the first time
startup screen to put in my callsign etc.
The session restart.
I also deleted the hidden .Xastir folder in my Homefolder but the result
is the samen.
Do I need to be a "Sudo" user, a user with same rights on the system
like the Sudo ?
I'l give it a try later today

the clean install does the trick. Based on other email traffic, it
appears that several people have Xastir working fine in Ubuntu 10.04.

That sounds like something that needs to be added to the Wiki. I'm
not using Ubuntu these days, so I hadn't actually tried the script.
It just looked like a nice way to automate installing from source. If
things are crashing right after the script starts running, it doesn't
sound like Xastir itself is crashing your computer 'cause at that
point it is far from installed.

In the HowTo for 10.04, there's a link to a script that will automate
the whole process of installing the CVS version of Xastir (currently
v1.99). Be sure to remove the binary version with Synaptic before
installing the source version from CVS.

Hi, been using Xastir at my IGate for some years now but I wanted to
upgrade my 9.04 Ubuntu to the lates 10.x
The installation of 10.x on one of my old IBM T40's went ok and
installing Xastir went ok until I tried to start it, after 2 seconds
Ubuntu restart and I have to log on again.
(I do have another computer with Ubuntu 9.04 installed and everything
works fine and I have installed this many times for my own training and
showing other how easy it is to use Xastir.)
I'm using the Synaptic module to add Xastir and it only find 1.9.4..
Is this a know problem ??, do I have to use a more up to date version
of
Xastir and if so where to I find it using the "sudo apt-get install
...." command
I have been looking at the description on HowTo:Ubuntu_10.04 on the
wiki
page but with respect, I'm not a programmer :-)
