Hi All- A brief update/resolution: I went ahead and ordered the Keyspan Serial to USB adapter from Amazon, loaded the drivers and plugged it in. I can't recommend anything more highly- worked from the get go!
It was nice to see data coming over the OT+! If anyone is interested in using a Mac with their OT+, I would not hesitate to recommend the Keyspan USA-19HS.
