Which version of Xastir? Installed from source or an RPM? Check Help->About to get the version number and more info about which libraries are compiled into your version. Depending on the libraries that are compiled in, you'll have different map capabilities.
I would like a detailed map of Colorado (Possibly similar to aprs.fi site?). Does anybody have info on how to load a map and where to download it from?
Later versions of Xastir support Shapelib natively, so that might be your best bet. Check out the README.MAPS file that should come with your Xastir, perhaps loaded into /usr/local/share/doc/xastir or /usr/share/doc/xastir There's also the HowTo:Maps page on the Xastir.org Wiki.
Also, I remember a BUNCH of errrors when I ran ./get-maptools.sh . If that helps. Below is some of the long stream of errors I got during execution.
Since I don't tend to use that, I can't help you with that one. Have you looked at the xastir.org site, the "Installation Notes" section for CentOS-specific information? I'm quite familiar with CentOS but don't tend to run Xastir on the boxes I have that run it. I should be able to help with some specifics though. If you don't find what you need perusing the xastir.org site, come back here and ask specific questions. You can also try Google searches through the Xastir mailing lists, as most such questions have been asked before.
