Get-maptools.sh is essentially a set of hard-coded build instructions for *ancient* versions of various libraries that help Xastir with maps (e.g. proj-4.4.9, where the current version is 4.8, and gdal 1.3.2 where the current version is 2.0, etc.). Most---if not all---of the packages that get-maptools installed were really hard to come by when get-maptools was written back in 2006, but it has not been updated in any substantial way since then --- CVS log shows nothing but updated copyright notices after 2006. Lots has changed in those packages in the last 8 years. Nowadays, almost all of the packages that get-maptools.sh would install are available in almost all of the package management systems for any OS. The tarballs that get-maptools.sh would download are years old, if they are even still available or if the sites from which it would download are even still in existance. I suggest that it is years past time that this tool was removed from the Xastir distribution, and all references to it in the Xastir documentation expunged. -- Tom Russo KM5VY SAR502 DM64ux http://www.swcp.com/~russo/ Tijeras, NM QRPL#1592 K2#398 SOC#236 http://kevan.org/brain.cgi?DDTNM echo "prpv_a'rfg_cnf_har_cvcr" | sed -e 's/_/ /g' | tr [a-m][n-z] [n-z][a-m] _______________________________________________ Xastir mailing list [email protected] http://xastir.org/mailman/listinfo/xastir
