FYI: I wouldn't use cached maps for an event. Too much can go wrong. Use Shapefile extracts if you want to use OSM maps. Find links to extracts here:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Shapefiles For instance, I can get a Shapefile extract for WA state here: http://download.geofabrik.de/north-america/us/washington-latest.shp.zip Which I got to from the first link under "Pre-made shapefile downloads". It's 129MB though. I was using the Cloudmade OSM Extracts, but I'm not sure they do that anymore.
