O.k ... the KAM DOES submit a K and the delay is ticked ... Here is a sample of the tnc.log ... The line below shows that it is TX'ing (at least it shows "TX->" and then the line below next to it in the "Display Packet Data" window) after I changed the TNCEXTRADELAY to 2000000 microseconds ... TX->ZS6XOX-10>APX204,WIDE2-1:=2612.15S/02815.28EyPHG8130Debian [email protected] 0739347438 TNC->MYCALL ZS6XOX-10 TNC->UNPROTO APX204 VIA WIDE2-1 TNC->K TNC->=2612.15S/02815.28EyPHG8130Debian [email protected] 0739347438 The problem is that even though it shows the "TX->" part in the "Display Packet Data" window, the red TX L.E.D does not light up ... > The original fix for this was to add a constant delay for *ALL* serial TNCs, > supposedly so small that nobody would notice. I went up to 2000000 ... nothing ... :( ... well not really nothing ... at least I have a "TX->" now ... ;) ... It would be improper for me to continue to pester this mailing list if the simple answer to my problem is that the KAM is simply just too old and I am trying to achieve something more experienced Hams before me could'nt given that this issue has been discussed before as you have pointed out ... So I guess for my own piece of mind there are 3 things I need you to confirm for me ... could you check if the pin-outs from the TM-271A to the KAM is correct here: https://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?483978-Kenwood-TM-271-to-Kantronics-KAM ... and can you give me a tried and tested way to confirm that the KAM is in KISS mode (yes ... I followed the steps in the manual ;) ) ... ... and can you confirm that the setting on my KAM is correct (below) ... If all 3 of the above are honky-dory then I know the KAM is not up for the task and I can sell it on eBay for at least $5000 as an antique (any takers?) ... My initialisation file for the KAM is like this (tnc-startup.kam): 8BITCONV ON ASCBAUD 110 ALIAS OFF/OFF AX25L2V2 ON/ON ABAUD 9600 AUTOCR 0 AUTOLF ON AUTOSTRT OFF AXDELAY 0 AXHANG 0 BEACON EVERY 240/EVERY 240 BKONDEL ON BTEXT Debian/Xaster Igate BUDLIST OFF/OFF BUDCALLS NONE A/V Link state is: DISCONNECTED CANLINE $18 CANPAC $19 CCITT ON CD SOFTWARE/SOFTWARE CHECK 0/0 CMDTIME 1 CMSG DISC/DISC COMMAND $03 CONLIST OFF/OFF CONMODE CONVERS CONOK ON CPACTIME OFF CR ON CRADD OFF CRLFSUP OFF CSTAMP ON CTEXT APRS Network no connected messages supported!
