xastir uses X11 fonts - ask them. You want bold, pick bold with
xfontsel. there may be a part of the font string that says "-medium-"
- try changing that to "-bold-".
not all X fonts have a bold or italic ("oblique") version. IIRC some
have the bold version as a totally different font.
