Hi Steve

Thanks for this. Actually I have already made those changes to
/usr/local/share and the two maps DO appear in the Map Chooser but when I
select either of them all I get is a grey background screen. All the stations
are there, just not the map. Other than worldhi.map, I have two other maps in
Map Chooser, geogratis.gc.ca and nationalmap.gov, but neither of them give me
any map.

Your maps are in a binary folder, you need to change this:

Then you need to edit your ~/.xastir/config/xastir.cnf file to change all
occurances of "/usr/share" to "/usr/local/share"

Using nano edit auto map directories and the other maps files from /usr/share
to /usr/local/share

Be careful to edit just the map directories and you should have your online
maps again.

Subject: [Xastir] Maps

Hi

With the help of many yesterday I was able to install xastir from source and
get it to work – with one exception. I forgot to save any maps from my
previous binary version. Now although xastir works fine, I have no map
displayed. The map chooser shows geogratis.gc.ca and nationalmap.gov but
selecting either of these makes no difference. In my binary version, the
default install gave me a couple of tiled *.fosm maps which worked fine.
Selecting the worldhi.map does work but does not provide a very nice map. What
do I need to do to get a map working?

Thanks.

Joe
