Peter,

If it has been more than six months since you last updated Cygwin, I would
recommend that you do the complete ./bootstrap;./configure;make
clean;make;make install sequence to rebuild Xastir.  Some of the recent
Cygwin changes involved several changes to a lot of the underlying
libraries.

I had been running Xastir successfully for quite some time, about a year.  I
decided to try some updating. 
 
After performing the setup.exe at cygwin and supposedly updating to
6.8.2.0(202), I cannot start Xastir.  I type in "Xastir &" in the bash
window, but Xastir never starts.
