This is a laptop, but the video shows up as "ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Series".

I've got a 2-year old eMachines M6810 laptop, with an ATI Radeon card. (Radeon Mobility 9600 w/64MB RAM) When I initially installed Kubuntu Feisty, it didn't select the screen resolution right (widescreen 1280x800), and didn't detect the touchpad right (no scroll area support). However, when I filed a bug to that effect, someone immediately gave me a quick work-around:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

This allowed me to manually select my optimum native screen resolution, and set up the touchpad correctly.

I've run both the old repository version of xastir, as well as compiled from CVS, successfully on this machine.
