I will second the "critical information" from Rick and Peet. I tried making the data cable and blew out my unit because of the +5 volt lead being wrong (my fault). The second one I took care, double double checked and then blew it out again for the same reason. I ended up buying a cable from them...

Looking at the female 6-pin modular, pin 1 is on the RIGHT with the keyway on the bottom. I've got a cable made up, and am looking at data with hyperterm on an old win98 machine. Next step is to install a multi-port serial card in my linux machine so I can feed the data to xastir. Each data field is four ascii characters representing hex digits. When I interpret the hex digits as a binary integer, it seems to make sense. Temperature is in tenths of a degree F. I'm curious if they have a means of representing negative values?
