Xastir currently is a functional piece of software that does a very decent job of acting as an APRS client. It is in no way handicapped by limited functionality.
What needs to happen, is that someone (in the development group) needs to mark a line in the sand(s of time), and start development of Xastir 2.0. New Year's Day is approaching, and it is always marked by resolutions, promises, and new starts. Why not set the date as a line in the sand? 2008 is the year of Xastir 2.0. If the project never gets started, it will never be more than a dream.
